DONE

The following tips help reduce food smells when food odors make you feel ill or nauseated:

How To Reduce Smells While Drinking

  • Use cups with lids (such as travel mugs)
  • Drink through a straw

How To Reduce Smells While Cooking

  • Avoid cooking foods with strong odors such as onions, heavy meats, fish, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage)
  • Lift lids away from you
  • Use a kitchen fan to direct odors away from you
  • Cook outdoors
  • Use boiling bags or a slow cooker
  • Get creative. If a smell from a cooking appliance such as a toaster makes you queasy, place them in another part of the house or in the garage.
  • Ask a neighbor or friend to cook for you.
  • Order take out food if you can
